I graduated from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in May 2019 with a Bachelor of Science and Departmental Honors in Biochemistry. My journey with research started when I joined the 2017 Stony Brook international Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) team. We worked on the development of novel hybrid bacteriocins, a type of antimicrobial peptide, focused on targeting and effectively killing MRSA. I then moved on to work under the guidance of Professor Todd Miller to elucidate the regulatory mechanisms of the protein Ack1, and to determine the role that Src has in its regulation. I am currently a research technician in the Varmus Laboratory working on developing murine models to better understand small cell lung cancer. In the future, I plan to pursue a career as a physician scientist. Although I work hard, you can also catch me outside of lab spending time with friends, taking pictures, and hiking or biking!
